Strategic Development Group, Inc.’s team possesses over 50 years of experience in site selection, incentive negotiation, and economic development consulting. This experience includes private sector and government service that generates a unique ability to maximize value for clients. We understand the technical issues of the site location process as well as the intricacies of negotiating land costs, electricity and rail rates, and tax incentives. Our staff includes dedicated MBA and JD educated professionals who focus on generating positive results for Strategic Development Group’s global client base.

Our team approaches each client’s site selection and incentive negotiation project differently, analyzing how the particular project fits in with a client’s overall goals. We realize that clients have different needs so we customize each site selection project to the client.

We also have extensive experience working with state and local governments. We have existing relationships with Governors and Secretaries of Commerce that allow us to maximize the value of a client’s site location process.

Mark Williams is founder and President of Strategic Development Group, Inc. (SDG) is a fully-staffed site location consulting firm founded in 1999 that provides a variety of site selection and negotiation services to mid-size and large corporations during the site selection process. Key areas of experience include industrial locations for automotive suppliers, steel, chemical, and headquarters facilities. SDG has conducted site searches leading to over $US 1.8 billion in capital investment during the last 4 years.

SDG has completed highly successful site location projects with major U.S. corporations and multi-national corporations based in Europe and Asia including Bridgestone, British Petroleum (BP), ASMO, Indorama Ventures, Sumiden Wire, Nutramax Laboratories, Tupperware, JTEKT, and Commercial Metals Corporation.

SDG also provides a variety of economic development consulting services to state, regional, and local economic development organizations across the U.S. These services include site evaluation, strategic planning, goal setting, marketing studies, and organizational analysis. Mr. Williams has served as an advisor to U.S. Governors, Mayors, legislators, and Directors of State Development agencies on a variety of business retention, strategic planning, and target marketing initiatives.

Mr. Williams previously served as Chief Development Officer for the South Carolina Department of Commerce. In this position, he directed South Carolina’s domestic and global business recruitment activities, including the operation of Commerce’s international offices in Frankfurt, Germany and Tokyo, Japan.

Mr. Williams is nationally recognized as an expert economic developer. He has earned the professional designations of Certified Economic Developer (CED) and Certified Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) and chaired the former American Economic Development Council’s Certification Board, which certified professional economic developers in the United States and Canada.

Mr. Williams has also been named as “One of the Top 10 Site Consultants that know the South Best” and “One of the Top 3 Site Consultants in South Carolina” by Southern Business and Development magazine. He has been awarded the Order of the Palmetto, the highest honor that can be given to a South Carolina citizen, for his success in economic development.

Mr. Williams is also a member and officer of the Site Selector’s Guild, which is a professional association comprised of the world’s most respected site selection consultants.

Danielle Campolo has been with Strategic Development Group, Inc. for over fifteen years and now serves as Senior Principal. Ms. Campolo works with the SDG team to conduct site evaluation, site selection, and incentive negotiation projects for major U.S. and multinational corporations throughout the United States.

As Senior Principal, she has worked with clients in various industries including automotive, aerospace, chemical, rubber, healthcare, energy, and nutraceutical. She enjoys working with corporate decision makers to select the optimal site for business ventures, while considering operational, logistical, labor, and other business related costs. Her specialty is providing analysis related to specific business locational cost comparisons and incentive negotiation strategies to facilitate successful site location projects. In order to maximize the value of economic benefits offered during the site selection process, Ms. Campolo also provides services to corporations after announcements are made to ensure incentives offered are received on time and at the value stated.

She also serves as a liaison with local, regional, and state economic development entities, as well as State Departments of Revenue, Departments of Commerce and Economic Development, and local and regional utility providers. Ms. Campolo has been instrumental in the successful completion of numerous site location projects for large global corporations, including Koyo Corporation, BP Chemical, and Bridgestone/ Firestone.

Related to public sector experience, Ms. Campolo has consulted with numerous county and regional economic development programs across the country related to strategic planning, goal setting, marketing studies, site certification, best practices analyses, and organizational evaluations. Her proficient technical skills have been utilized in multiple marketing research projects, with a focus on targeted marketing and statistical analysis.

Ms. Campolo has a joint degree in Marketing and Small Business Management, as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina – Moore School of Business.

Ms. Chambers works alongside Mark Williams in every step of site selection, incentive negotiation, and post-location follow up for clients. She brings exceptional analytical skills to the firm managing huge databases of statistical, demographic, and GIS information to analyze various location factors for clients and has spearheaded various research projects, as well as worked with the SDG team to complete site evaluations and cost comparisons. She handles using IMPLAN and other data sources to conduct Economic Impact Studies for major projects.

Ms. Chambers also performs numerous facets of economic development work that SDG conducts for the public sector. She handles the data-driven qualitative and quantitative analysis for labor draw, salaries, and community analysis and creates dynamic models for location and incentive comparisons.

Ms. Chambers has worked in both the public and private sectors, including time at the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, Ford Motor Company, and Bang Technologies, with a variety of responsibilities ranging from computer support and project implementation to comparative tax research.

Ms. Chambers holds an International MBA from the Moore School of Business, a JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and a BA in Information Technology Policy from Sweet Briar College. She is currently working on a Masters in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. She is a licensed South Carolina attorney.

Mr. Cameron Williams is the newest addition to Strategic Development Group, Inc. and serves as a Project Director. Mr. Williams has a background in public and private sector project management in energy and real estate. As a Project Director for SDG, Mr. Williams has been integrally involved in site location projects from start to finish, where he directs and implements processes related to site solicitation, site inspections, multiple rounds of site short listing, presentation of site location recommendations to executive client teams, and coordination among multiple state and local economic development organizations.

During site selection projects, Mr. Williams manages significant quantities of project data from various sources in order to present key project characteristics to senior SDG personnel and executive client teams. Mr. Williams also participates in internal marketing and strategy planning to expand SDG’s marketing presence and growth potential.

In addition to building hourly consulting capacity with the Strategic Development Group team, Mr. Williams brings an innovative process and technical capability that adds value through modern approaches to site mapping, energy infrastructure and fuel source integration, and transportation planning related to logistics optimization.

Mr. Williams is a Class of 2016 MBA graduate from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with coursework focus in Corporate Strategy, Consulting, and Community Development. Mr. Williams is also an undergraduate alumnus of the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business.
